Pocatello is a beautiful and bustling yet unassuming city in Bannock and Power Counties, in the southeastern part of Idaho. It’s the perfect-sized city for anyone wanting a variety of things to do while still keeping a small town feel and hospitality. The population was around 56,000 as of 2020, roughly 1/4 the size of Idaho’s capital of Boise. When the weather is warm, you can ride your bike or walk along the paved Greenway, or travel to any of the many beautiful areas right around the heart of the city to go camping. When the weather cools down, there’s plenty of sledding, ice skating, or skiing – Pocatello has over 12 1/2 miles of groomed trails for Nordic skiing. No matter what the weather holds, you can easily spend days visiting this beautiful city. Whether you’re visiting Zoo Idaho, Ross Park Aquatic Complex, or exploring the history of the Fort Hall Replica and Idaho Museum of Natural History, you’ll find plenty to do. End your day with a pint – or two – at Pocatello’s own Portneuf Valley Brewing. This city perfectly balances a low cost of living, a thriving economy, and plenty to do.
